Cyberknife

This morning, my hubby is going in for his first treatment for prostate cancer. We decided on the cyberknife treatment, after hearing all the other options. Those included surgery, which could result in incontinence and impotence; radiation, which includes 45 treatments. If we had chosen that one, which has very good results, we would have had to drive 100 miles one way, 5 days a week for 2 months. Not a good option for us.

His urologist recommended the cyberknife treatment. This is fairly new - 5 years of being used, so there are no guarantees, but so far it has lived up to the hype. This treatment will be a total of 5.

We have to travel 350 miles, one way, with 2 treatments one week, and 3 the next week. We have chosen to do that because we have a place to stay.

The DR told us he couldn't give us any guarantees, especially in a 30 year time frame. I told him that in 30 years, he will be 96, and probably dead anyway.

I am including a video of a similar procedure. Watch it if you want, and at your own risk. We would appreciate prayers that this will take care of the problem.

Thanks!

Thank you for all your good wishes. He came through the 1st treatment just fine. There is no cutting involve, and no chemotherapy! Yea for that.

He has 4 more to go, so by a week from Friday, we should be done except for check-ups.

I'll keep you all posted, probably from this blog posting.

Glad that dad did just well through the procedure. Just to think that he is 20% done.
Love lots and I know that you will do fine through it.
