Earth Hour

Tonight between 8:30-9:30 we are supposed to turn out our lights in honor of earth hour. I, for one am going to have my lights on, and celebrate "Human Achievement Hour" and will enjoy every minute of it...that is, if I stay up that late. LOL!

Anyway, here is a video that I got from HolyCoast.com that I thought you progressive minded folks would enjoy.

Brain Bleeds

After hearing about Natasha Richardson accident and death this week, there have been many things written.

This article was very informative, and I wanted to post it, especially for all the kids who will be involved in summer sports.

Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry.

I Quit...I think I can....

I received this this morning, and it is really good!

Motivational Speaker - Veraunda Jackson says.... "it's OK to
Quit....."

1. Quit arguing with people about the same old foolishness! Respect their

position and keep it moving!

2. Quit telling people your secrets when you know they are not going to keep

them! And if you keep telling them, then quit getting mad when they tell your

secrets!

3. Quit trying to pull people on your journey who don't want to travel with

you. Either they believe in you and value you...or they don't!

4. Quit complaining about things you can't and won't change!

5. Quit gossiping about other people! Minding our own business should be a full

time job!

6. Quit blaming each other for things that in the big picture aren't going

to matter three weeks from now! Talk solutions...and then implement them!

7. Quit eating things you know are not good for you! If you can't

quit...eat smaller portions!

8. Quit buying things when we know we can't afford them! If you don't

have self control, then quit going to the stores! Quit charging things,

especially when you don't NEED them!

9. Quit staying in unhealthy relationships! It is not okay for people to

verbally or physically abuse you! So quit lying to yourself! It is not okay to

stay in the marriage for the children! Ask them and they will tell you that they

really would prefer to see you happy and that the misery you and your

spouse/partner are living with is affecting them!

10.. Quit letting family members rope you into the drama! -Start telling them

you don't want to hear it! Quit spreading the drama! Quit calling other

relatives and telling them about your cousin or aunt! Go back to #5 minding your

own business should be enough to keep you busy!

11. Quit trying to change people! IT DOESN'T WORK! Quit cussing people out

when you know that they are just being the miserable and jealous people that

they are
!

12. Quit the job you hate! Start pursuing your passion. Find the job that fuels

your passion BEFORE you quit!

13. Quit volunteering for things that you aren't getting any personal

fulfillment from anymore! Quit volunteering for things and then failing to

follow through with your commitment!

14. Quit listening to the naysayers! Quit watching the depressing news if you

are going to live in the doom and gloom of it all!

15. Quit making excuses about why you are where you are or why you can't do

what you want to do!

16. Quit waiting on others to give you the answers...and start finding the

answers for yourself! If what you are doing isn't working for you...then quit it
!

17. Quit settling and start making your dreams a reality!-Quit being afraid and

START LIVING YOUR LIFE! CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT! If you want something

different than what you have had in the past....you must quit doing what you

have done before and DO something different! JUST QUIT IT ... and START DOING

something to create the experience you want!

A Refiner and Purifier of Silver

This was sent to me today, and it really spoke to my heart. I am a long way from being 'silver.'

Malachi 3:3 says:

"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says:

"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver."

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he

had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered,

"Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire ,remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

"Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.

Gentle Lessons of Life...from my blog friend, Penny--this is my 97th post!

Gentle Lessons of Life

When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor's dog run to the end of his chain.
*************
A penny saved is obviously the result of a
government oversight.
*************

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
**********

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.
**********

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a new replacement for it.

**********
He who hesitates is probably doing the right thing.
**********

Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are ' XL.'
**********
If you think there is some good in everybody, you obviously haven't met 'everybody'.
**********
If you can smile when things go wrong, you must have someone else in mind to blame.
**********
The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so that he can tell when he's 'really' in trouble.
**********
There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.
**********
Did you ever notice: When you put the 2 words 'The' and 'IRS' together it spells 'Theirs.'

*********
Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
*********
The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
**********
Some people try to turn back their life's odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long, long way and some of the road s weren't paved.
***********

When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra..

***********
You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.
***********
One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.
**********
Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
**********
First you forget names, then you forget faces. Then you forget to pull up your zipper. It's even worse when you forget to pull it down.
***********
Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft.
Today, it's called golf

*********
Lord, Keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth...AMEN..!

Amarillo

Well, while I am posting, I figured I'd better say something about our trip to Amarillo last weekend to see the daughter, her husband, and the oldest grandchild!

We left on Friday morning, ate lunch in Guyman, and made it to their house around 3 in the afternoon. Of course, we were greeted by all the dogs! She has beautiful boxers, a new litter of 6 little pups, and a spoiled King Charles spaniel.

I wanted pictures to prove that we do go there once in a while! Larry was there, but no picture of him! Vern also was there!

Zach is a typical teenager...lounges on the couch and plays with his iPod, and his mom's phone.

Our wonderful grandson even gave up his bed for us! He slept on a recliner!

Isn't he sweet!

He a lot taller than G'Ma!

I did get a kiss on his cheek!

We finished the weekend with a wonderful breakfast at the local Cracker Barrel! Thanks G'pa!

By the way, if any of you are interested, G'pa counted 84 of these suckers from Amarillo to Guyman, OK!

Spring Break

Well, today is the first day of Spring Break, so I went to the neighbor's and asked if the young one would be able to help me bake cookies. Let me tell you, I had to beg and beg! LOL! (For those of you who might stumble upon this blog, I can take the young one anytime I want her!)

Anyway, we had a blast!

We sifted the flour and other dry ingredients:

Next we put them on the baking sheet and baked them. ummmm, they smell so good!

Of course, we had to make a plate to take home!

There is nothing better than a fresh, hot cookie from the oven.

Chloe and I had fun.

When the cookies were done, she wanted to organize all of my stamps.

She did a great job, now if I can get her dust, vacuum, mop the floor, etc!

We will probably have fun during Spring Break!

Thanks, Chloe!

Musings....

I've been thinking that I needed to blog about things I've been thinking about. The economic situation in America is not very good news, the way people are slamming anyone not Democratic is a shame, and the lack of values that is shown is abominable. I know we who are Christian conservatives feel like we are in the minority, but we do KNOW the HE is in control.

So far, in our lives we haven't seen the results of these situations in our daily lives except for the retirement funds that are disappearing. Our health is good, we are still eating, driving, going to church, praying, reading whatever we want, watching TV, and just living. I'm sure is just a matter of time before we all feel the crunch.

2 Chronicles 7
7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The King James Version (Authorized)

This passage was sent to me today, and I was encouraged to pass it on as a prayer for our country. I chose to do it this way, instead of sending it to everyone in my address book. Please make this your prayer for our country. Let's also pray for our president and his cabinet.
