Memorial Day 2009

Tomorrow is the observed holiday known as Memorial Day. It is a day that many families get together for a BBQ, or they go to the beach, or just spend a quiet day at home. It is a day to remember those who are in the different branches of the service.

This is the day we are encouraged to remember our fallen soldiers, who gave their lives for those of us who live in America.

I would like to honor those in my family who have served.

James M. Adams
My father who served in the Army - He was a gunner during WWII
As he used to say, "Why would anyone jump out of a perfectly flying airplane?" He never had to jump out of the plane. He was stationed for awhile in France. He said the water was terrible, so many of his fellow service men drank the wine. Daddy told us the strongest drink he ever had was a coke in a dirty glass.
He came home!

Anthony P. Cimino
My step -dad served in the Air Force. He was a pilot. He flew different planes during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He also went to Viet Nam during the last days of the war. He retired after working in the Pentagon.
He is home!

James B. Adams
My brother served in the Air Force. He served in Viet Nam. It was a tough assignment. He doesn't talk about Viet Nam to us.
He is home!

David W. Adams
My brother served in the Air Force. He was in during Viet Nam, but he never had to go there. He also served in the Army and Air National Guard.
He is home!

Regina Adams
My sister-in-law spent seven years in the Naval Reserve. She served in the Naval Reserve as a line officer in Korea, Japan and Italy.
She is home!

Carole Goossen James
My daughter was in the Navy. She served on the tender, U.S.S. Acadia. She was in the Persian Gulf war, Desert Shield - Desert Storm.
She is home!

Larry Don James
My son-in-law. He served in the Army. He was a specialist who worked on helicopters.
He is home

Larry Wayne Waddington
My nephew, served in the Navy. He was an aviation ordnance, serving on the U.S.S Enterprise, and the U.S.S Abraham Lincoln. He served in Desert Shield - Desert Storm.
He is home!

Robert Adams
My nephew, who is serving in the Navy. He is serving on the U.S.S Stennis, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. He has also been on a submarine, and taught submarine classes.
He is serving today.

Patrick Adams
My nephew, serving in the Army in Afghanistan.
He is serving today.

I am so proud of the members of my family who served, and I am so glad they made it home. We pray for those two members that are still serving.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a constant reminder of those who paid the ultimated sacrifice. Here is a nice presentation about the Tomb.

Our country is still the greatest country in the world, and I am so glad I get to live here! I hope you are proud to be here too.
