Economic Common Sense

Don't spend more than you have

Don't buy more house than you can afford

Live below your means if you want to save money

If you don't understand it, don't put your money in it

Save money for a rainy day

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is

There's no such thing as a free lunch

You can't cheat an honest man

Horace Greeley was right: Common sense is very uncommon.

Amen! I agree with your very good common sense list. Especially...save money for a rainy day :-)

All so true, yet why do so many find it so difficult?

My pastor heard and shared with us the 8-1-1 concept. Live on 8 of what you bring home, save 1 of what you bring home, give 1 of what you bring home (salary is what I'm talking about). he said, and I truly do believe this, statistically people live on 107% of what they bring home, thus we are in a mess credit wise (we collectively). Here at our house we need to clear up the mess we got ourselves into and then hopefully can do the 8-1-1 concept. It does sound doable, doesn't it?

They need to teach this to kids in school.

Thanks for your kind comments. Opus, I think these need to be taught at home, and especially by example. I know my dad taught all of us these things. We never felt like we were doing without either!
