REMEMBER to adamantly & vocally BOYCOTT this stamp, when you are purchasing your stamps at the post office.
All you have to say is "No thank you, I do not want that Muslim Stamp on my letters!"
To use this stamp would be a slap in the face to all those AMERICANS who died at the hands of those whom this stamp honors.

I just reread this, and the stamp pictured is a $.42 stamp, not a $.44. I guess it doesn't matter...boycott it!

Thank you for the heads up, Linda. For years we tried to get a stamp for Pediatric Cancer,and even with thousands of signatures on petitions and going to Washington, we got shot down....now this?? Shame!!
many people have died, over the ages, at the hands of Christians and by the fanatics of all religions.
I agree, there are many other causes to celebrate, other causes to support, and this stamp is in poor taste.
Tricky one this. I totally understand and sympathise with your point of view. The timing is not great and it's not right that other causes or celebrations have not been marked in such a way.
There are, however, many Muslims who are not fanatical fundamentalists. They also condemn the attacks on the US and other western countries. Many feel the way to defeat fanaticism is to engage those Muslims and enable them to feel like they are truly participants in the countries to which they have chosen to live. One way is by acknowledgment of their important dates and festivals.
Speaking as a Briton who for many years witnessed Irish terrorism I can't now, and couldn't then, bring myself to reject/hate all Irish people on the basis of the actions of a few. I feel the same way about Muslims and I am lucky enough to have 3 fantastic friends who are Muslim and British.
The email you received is very misleading. President Obama had nothing to do with the issuance of this stamp. It was first issued as a 34 cent stamp during GWB's administration on 8/1/01. The stamp has been reissued several times since then.
When it was reissued for the first time over a year after the 9/11 attacks (on 10/1/02), the Bush White House posted an item promoting the stamp, as a way to reach out to the Muslim community of the world on Ramadan.
