A nation founded by geniuses but run by idiots

So, in the spirit of *fair and balanced* here is a list of the biggest IDIOT IDEAS we have from elected officials today. And make NO mistake, there are IDIOTS on BOTH sides of the aisle and in ALL branches of U.S. government!

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book, but not to vote for who runs the government¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the government wants to ban stable law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a heap is only subject to having her neck and head searched¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is cute, but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested homes you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the governments plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of Unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor buys iPhones, TVs and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you safer according to the government¦ you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

What a country!!!!

This is as true as anything we have seen on the ‘net.

Perks of reaching 65....and 70!

I hit the big 70 this year!

Someone had to remind me, so I'm reminding you too. Don't laugh.....it is all true...

Perks of reaching 65 and over !

01. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

02. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

03. No one expects you to run--anywhere.

04. People call at 9 PM and ask, "did I wake you?"

05. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

06. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.

07. Things you buy now won't wear out.

08. You can eat supper at 4 PM.

09. You can live without sex but not your glasses.

10. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.

11. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.

12. You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.

13. You sing along with elevator music.

14. Your eyes won't get much worse.

15. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

16. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.

17. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

18. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.

19. You can't remember who sent you this list.

20. And you notice these are all in Big Print for your convenience..

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

 

 

In Case I'm Gone

 

One day a man's wife died, and on that clear, cold

morning in the warmth of their bedroom, the husband was

struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there

isn't any more.

 

No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate

together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more

"just one minute."

 

Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up

and goes away, never to return before we can say

good-bye and say "I love you."

 

So while we have it, it's best we love it, care for it,

fix it when it's broken and heal it when it's sick.

 

This is true for marriage, children with bad report

cards, dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and

grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it,

because we are worth it.

 

Some things we keep--like a best friend who moved away

or a sister-in-law after divorce. There are just some

things that make us happy, no matter what.

 

Suppose one morning you never wake up, do all your

friends know you love them?

 

It's so very important to let every one of your friends

know you love them, even if you think they don't love

you back.

 

For one day we will all be gone.

Our 'Mom'

Today, I'd like to pen a few lines about this amazing woman!

She came into our lives when we were very young.  She married our dad knowing he had twin daughters, and she always accepted them (us) as her own.  We all know raising step-children can be a tough assignment, but she never wavered.

As my sister and I grew up, we spent the school year with our mother and other family, and the summers with dad and 'mom'.  We didn't always understand what was going on, but we knew we were safe and secure no matter where we were.

Mom was a mere 16 years older than us, but she loved and ruled with a wisdom beyond her years. She married our dad when she was 19 years old.  She had 3 children of her own.  Check back to the last post, and you can see all of us together.

I don't think she ever showed favoritism to 'her' kids over us....well, maybe for the baby...David!

We all had her heart.  She loved us unconditionally.

She had to work to help support our family, so she worked a night shift so she could be home with us during the day.  I don't ever remember going to a baby sitter or a day care.  She was there when we needed her.

I don't think she ever had any 'higher' education, but she graduated from High School, and then the 'school of hard knocks'.

She sewed our clothes, crocheted blankets, washed clothes, even with a wringer washer.  (I remember getting my fingers caught more than once.)  She'd hang the clothes outside, or inside on those folding hangers we all used to have.  She ironed, and even taught us to iron, too.

She had a great sense of humor and honor.  She worked for JC Penney for many years.  She was the bookkeeper. Her books always balanced.  If she was a penny off, she'd stay at work until she found it.  She handled the home finances the same way.

Mom was a great influence on our lives.  During our teen years, we lived there, and she put up with all the teen angst times two!

I remember our home filled with games and laughter.  

We miss her terribly.  She was taken way too young due to breast cancer.
