Gifts from Grandma!

From Dear Annie, this morning!

Dear Annie: The letter from "Disappointed Grandmother" reminded me of a story I heard many years ago. Two elderly ladies were talking about gifts given to the grandchildren. Esther lamented that she had sent money to each of her grandchildren for Christmas and didn't get a single thank-you note. Paula proudly said, "Every one of my grandchildren came personally to thank me for their gift." At the look on Esther's face, Paula simply smiled and said, "I didn't sign the checks." -- Michigan Grandma

Thanks, CL. We are fine. Looking forward to the family coming home for the 4th. Lots of food, water, and fun!

I love that one! Sadly, this happens too often. When mine were little, they had to personally thank (or call) the giver before they were allowed to play with/wear the gift. As they grew, they had to write a thank you note for every gift sent through the mail. I'm afraid writing thank you notes is a dying tradition. Gratitude is underrated.

Hey, Penny! Do you have plans for the 4th? All our kids, plus a few extra are coming home. Lots of people, food etc. I think I'm pooped already!

ALL your kids?! Wow! No, we don't have anything planned. We've got grands all this week and are taking them to their mom Saturday. Leon goes home Sunday. Hopefully the 4th will be spent in the maternity ward this year. lol My niece is having her first baby (girl) and my sister and I are really wanting another 4th of July birthday. Our Mimi's birthday was the 4th and the baby's being named after our Nannie. So... We're just hoping God thinks the 4th sounds as good as we do. :)

Well, keep me posted, Penny! Will you name her 'Nannie'? My g'ma's name was Nannie Elizabeth. She got really upset if someone spelled it 'Nanny'. She said a nanny is a goat!

We love her so much. She's been gone since 1984. She almost made 100!

Linda, Just saw where you posted about my niece's baby's name. No, not "Nannie"~ that wasn't her name, just what we called her. :) Her name was Velma Louise. My aunt is Nancy Louise, my sister is Bambi (real name) Louise, my niece is Briana Louise and the new one will the 5th "Louise." Abigail Louise (Abbey). No news on labor yet, but Thursday the OB said she'd probably go into labor within 72 hours... so. Miss Abbey needs to know that the clock.is.ticking. Haha
